Danielle was a member of the talcum powder litigation team that secured nearly $1 billion in verdicts against Johnson & Johnson for failing to warn about ovarian cancer risks. Her work on those cases earned her team a nomination for the 2016 Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. She also served as lead attorney for claims involving Invokana and Reglan, and successfully litigated transvaginal mesh (TVM) and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) claims.
“I have been extremely fortunate over my career to help my clients obtain justice against some of the worst corporate actors of our time, and I am thrilled to be able to continue those efforts with SPG,” said Danielle.
Over her legal career, Danielle has repeatedly received recognition as an attorney and community leader. This year, she was selected as a Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyer, and was recognized in the 2020 edition of Best Lawyers in America. From 2014 – 2018, she was named to the Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list. She also received the 2015 Alabama Black Achievers Award Attorney of the Year, Beasley Allen’s 2016 Mass Torts Lawyer of the Year, and the 2016 American Association for Justice F. Scott Baldwin Award.
Sanders Phillips Grossman Senior Partner and co-founder Marc Grossman sought Danielle as the firm takes on Johnson & Johnson in talcum powder litigation representing thousands of claimants.
“I’ve been following Danielle’s career for many years. To achieve so much at such a young age is a testament to her skill, dedication, and leadership as an attorney, but I think the best is yet to come for Danielle—and for our firm,” said Marc.
Johnson & Johnson faces more than 15,000 lawsuits alleging its talcum powder caused ovarian cancer and mesothelioma. Evidence suggests that J&J covered up evidence of asbestos in its talcum-based products for decades. The cases have resulted in some of the largest-ever verdicts against J&J, with juries repeatedly delivering massive punitive damage awards. As talcum powder litigation heats up, major products liability firms like Sanders Phillips Grossman are adding powerhouse talc attorneys to their rosters.
The addition of Danielle to the firm’s mass torts team will better-enable Sanders Phillips Grossman to fight the world’s largest, wealthiest, and most influential corporate entities. Sanders Phillips Grossman is a complex litigation, mass tort, and environmental law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Puerto Rico, and is expanding to handle significant cases in Europe and South America. The firm and its affiliates have been protecting victims’ rights for over 50 years and have recovered more than $40 billion for their clients.
